In 2014, the community of Rio Lindo, Nicaragua, Project Schoolhouse, and the Burdine Johnson Foundation collaborated to construct a spring-fed gravity-flow water system. This system delivers clean water to 15 families.
Located in a remote area in central Nicaragua, all materials for the project had to be hauled several kilometers by horse and by hand. The nearly 7 kilometers of trenching was done entirely my hand through volunteer participation from the community.
